We maintain our own college access program housed at our headquarters in New York City, guiding under-resourced public high school students to four-year private colleges.
We owe our success to Charles August Heckscher, a visionary, and Arthur and Ruth Smadbeck, friends of Heckscher who shared a deep dedication to public service and who took over a shattered financial and management structure in the 1930s and made possible the survival of the foundation as a major benefactor.
