Internships

The Foundation’s Internship program for high school students from Urban Assembly schools combines service to not-for-profit agencies, individual tutoring and college guidance. To date, every Heckscher intern has received college acceptance, substantial financial aid awards and scholarship grants. The 2011 program focused on academic support and college preparation, including tutoring in English, Math and Latin. Support is continuing during the school year with continued academic and SAT tutoring and college visits. Heckscher interns also contribute meaningfully to not-for-profit organizations throughout the city while gaining first-time work experiences in research, community projects, and family social services through paid summer internship placements.
