Charter Schools

The Foundation provided a grant to Success Charter Network’s (SCN) T School teacher training program, which was developed using an integrated model that combines knowledge-based learning with hands-on skills-based development. This unique program was inspired by the efficacy of hands-on learning and in response to the fact that despite this, in most educational settings, the majority of aspiring teachers spend their days in lecture halls rather than in hands-on development. Through T School, teachers learn pedagogical elements, immediately go into a classroom to see it in action and are then given the opportunity to practice with students and a personal coach who provides immediate feedback. For the last three years, the early incarnation of T School has been training teachers to work at an unprecedented level of effectiveness through a series of techniques aimed at achieving complete content mastery and highly effective instruction.
